Trivia of the day: PIERCy stands for Portable Interactive Engagement/Research Cyberdeck, and it's named in honour of Marge Piercy, a feminist utopian science fiction author who, along with her contemporaries Joanna Russ, James Tiptree Jr., Vonda McIntyre, and Anne McCaffery, laid down the bedrock of cyberpunk literature years before the 80s cyberpunk movement arrived on the scene.* Affectionately regarded as the 'Speccy,' the Spectrum was Sinclair's first computer capable of color output, and is widely recognized for its complex 40-key rubber keyboard. Next on the agenda is trying to fit a custom macro pad into the slot where the tape deck keys went, and a speaker. The Sinclair ZX Spectrum was the successor to the ZX 81 released in the UK by Sinclair Research Ltd. Fake nostalgia is a hell of a drug though! Yes, I’m too young to actually remember the Spectrum. Fits an 8800mAh battery and a Raspberry Pi 4 which only occasionally resets due to low voltage. The Sinclair ZX Spectrum was the successor to the ZX 81 released in the UK by Sinclair Research Ltd. It features USB-C power a thicc power toggle switch that goes ka-chunk HDMI, USB, and Ethernet a 4.3” touchscreen display, and a special chip to translate its bizarre glorious keyboard into USB. I can promise here and now the Spectrum was non-functional, and I’ve saved the innards and the motherboard in case I get a chance to fix it later.
